Summertime (Solist, Thomas de Pourquery) . Laura (Solist, Thomas de Pourquery) . Easy to love (Solist, Jaleel Shaw) . What is this thing called love ( 5 saxo) 'Bird with Strings' (1949) by Charlie Parker is a unique encounter between the world of jazz and classical music. Some of today's best saxophonists return to this repertoire, with new arrangements by Christophe Del Sasso. For the young producer Norman Granz, the signing of Charlie Parker on the Mercury label was a real success story. For several years the saxophonist had been toying with the idea of seizing the opportunity to record music outside his usual quintet. The project 'Charlie Parker with strings' was therefore for him an old dream that he was to bring to reality in 1949. With an oboe, a few violins, a viola, a cello, a harp, a piano, a double bass and drums, he was to give a new sound to the 1930's classics such as 'Just Friends' or 'April in Paris'. Jazz at the Philharmonie celebrates this superb encounter by bringing together Géraldine Laurent (Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros 2015), Pierrick Pédron (Prix du disque franįais awarded by the Académie du jazz 2013) and Thomas de Pourquery (Artist of the Year at the Victoires du jazz 2017) on new arrangements by Christophe Dal Sasso. Recorded on January 27, 2019 at Pierre Boulez Hall, Philharmonie de Paris TV Director, Guiseppe De Vecchi.

Harold Lopez Nussa Trio - Jazz ā Porquerolles
Harold Lopez Nussa Trio Harold Lopez Nussa (piano) Ruy Adrian Lopez Nussa (drums) Gaston Joya (bass) Harold Lopez Nussa is a Cuban pianist who comes from a family of musicians. When you hear him it seems as if he is the custodian of all the musical traditions of the Caribbean, open to all the influences from Africa and the Americas without even mentioning the great European classical composers. It is an indication of just how much music lives within him and how he never ceases to want to share it with us. On stage, Harold Lopez overflows with expression just like everything which characterizes 'feeling' in Cuban music which is savoured with a shot of rum in the ears. Harold Lopez the direct descendent of the great Cuban pianists, Cucho Valdez, Carlos Maza, Roberto Fonseca, pianists who irresistibly make you get up off your seat and dance. Recorded on July 9, 2018 at the Jazz ā Porquerolles Festival TV Director, Frank Cassenti.

Rhoda Scott's Lady Quartet + Special Guest Bernard Purdie - Jazz ā vienne
Lady Quartet Rhoda Scott (organ), Airelle Besson (trumpet), Lisa Cat-Berro (saxophone alto), Géraldine Laurent (saxophone alto) Sophie Alour (Saxophone tenor) Julie Saury (drums) Special guest Bernard Purdie (drums) Since 2004, the organist Rhoda Scott has been at the helm (sparked by an idea from Jazz ā Vienne) of the torrid and well-named Lady Quartet, in the company of her Amazons Lisa Cat-Berro, Julie Saury and Sophie Alour. As euphoric and punchy as her young companions in the heat of the action, Rhoda Scott is one of the few still to use the pedals on her Hammond organ. Hence her nickname, 'the barefoot organist' (or 'the absolute toe' in the words of Luigi Trussardi!). After helping to raise the temperature in French jazz venues for the past 50 years, Lady Scott will be celebrating her eightieth birthday this year. She'll be blowing out the boogie candles and setting the gospel cake and soulful chorus on fire. The organist is the daughter of a travelling pastor from New Jersey and grew up in religious communities. She graduated with a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and set off for France to complete her studies with Nadia Boulanger. Back in New York, she began by playing with Count Basie. But then she decided to try her luck in Paris, where she arrived right in the month of May 1968. Featuring original compositions and covers ranging from Trenet to Wayne Shorter, 'We Free Queens' (2017), with the title proudly adapted from 'We Free Kings' by Roland Kirk, was recorded live. For Vienne a Lady All-Stars is billed, with Airelle Besson (trumpet), Géraldine Laurent (tenor saxophone) and Anne Pacéo (drums), plus the drummer Bernard Purdie. Recorded on July 3, 2018 at the Festival Jazz ā Vienne TV Director, Fabien Raymond.
